How this works

Ericeira Surf Log · 292 runs recorded since 27 Aug 2026

Four times a day (08:00, 11:00, 14:00, 17:00 Lisbon) the log records five Ericeira spots: forecast numbers from Surfline's public API, and a short clip from each beach's live camera.

The cameras are the point. A forecast tells you what the swell should be doing; only the camera tells you what it is actually doing, and whether anyone thought it was worth paddling out. Every report says how many surfers are in the water, counted off the frames. When a camera is dark, misframed or offline, the report says so rather than guessing.

Erisurf rating (1 to 5 stars, in half stars) starts from the forecast and is then adjusted by what the cameras show. Surfers in the water raise it, since that is live proof a spot is working, but the cameras can add at most one star: a crowd shows a spot is surfable, not that it is exceptional. Blown-out, closing-out or barely breaking water lowers it. The headline says WORTH SURFING, MARGINAL or SKIP.

Wind and tide for the next 24 hours come as one strip. Wind is in km/h.

Honest limits. Counts are a snapshot from two frames about 40 seconds apart, not a headcount — a surfer underwater in both is missed. Wide or distant cameras are marked approximate. Ratings and sizes are Surfline's forecast, not measurements. Nothing here is a safety assessment: check conditions yourself before paddling out.
